Maison de Moggy

So guess who finally got to visit Edinburgh's cat cafe?

Maison de Moggy is Scotland's first ever cat cafe. Based down in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh, it's home to 10 cats that you can get to know over the course of an hour while you have something to eat and drink (note: the cakes looked good, but there's no vegan options available).

You're not allowed to pick up any of the cats, but you are allowed to play with them, take photos and let them climb over you if they choose to. A couple of the cats were sleeping while I was there, but most of them wear running about the cafe.

It's definitely worth a visit if you like cats and want to try something a bit different. For more information on the cafe and the cats, then visit the website for more details.

American Adventures

This week, my best friend Andrew was in town to play some shows with Suburban Legends. It's been almost two years since we last saw each other, so we spent Wednesday afternoon exploring a bit of Edinburgh and having a proper catch up. Then it was time to set up merch before the doors opened, and the gig started.

On Thursday, we ended up having breakfast with some of his fans we randomly ran into in a coffee shop on the Royal Mile before we set off to Glasgow for the second Scottish show of the tour. It was pretty much the same set up as the night before. We set up the merch, had a few drinks, went for a walk and watched the Suburban Legends VIP performance they do for some selected fans before the gig.

Until next time....

Filmore and Union

on
Tuesday 14 April 2015
Last weekend, I discovered my new favourite vegan friendly cafĂ©, Filmore and Union in Skipton. It can sometimes be quite difficult to find places that serve vegan food in smaller towns, but Filmore and Union had lots of great choices.

The menu had food including protein packed cinnamon quinoa with roasted winter fruits and warm coconut milk, soup, and a choice of bagels and sandwiches.

I went for a Union Street Veggie sandwich with home made humus, spinach, roasted courgette, aubergine, butternut squash and carmalized red onion. And then I had a brownie with fruit compote which was delicious, especially since I can't even remember the last time I had a brownie.

Filmore and Union has a few locations around York and Leeds, so it's well worth checking out if you're ever around that area.

Flat warming party!

on
Sunday 5 April 2015

Here's to the last ones standing at my flat warming last night.

I had the best time last night with some of my favourite people. There was vodka, balloons, food, lots of good music, and even some Buckfast. I also discovered my garden is perfect for those people who want to smoke, and it's going to be great in parties in summer.

I guess it's time to start planning party number two!

Playhouse Party Times!

on
Friday 3 April 2015
So this is what an Edinburgh Playhouse night out looks like. We had food and lots of drinks in Basement, and then headed to Three Sisters for lots more drinks, dancing and even some karaoke. I've pretty much avoided karaoke my whole life, but last night I really enjoyed it. I think I may have my found my calling in Spice Girls karaoke tracks.

The whole night out was great though, and I'm really lucky to work with such an amazing group of people. And this weekend, I get to celebrate moving to Edinburgh with them all over even more drinks and dancing at mine.

(Thanks to those people who took photos last night
so I could steal the best ones from Facebook for this post)
