Abandon Ship Apparel Store Comes To Glasgow

on
Tuesday 29 October 2013
On Friday, one of the most exciting labels in Glasgow is opening up a pop up shop right in the centre of town. Abandon Ship Apparel (visit their website here if you haven't already stopped by) formed in the city a few years ago, and ever since their clothes have been selling everywhere.

Luckily for me, the shop will be open in Princess Square for three months which covers both Christmas and my birthday (it's January 9th if you're wondering). These are my favourite items at the moment, and the ones I'm hoping to get my hands on. I'm pretty sure i need them all for my holiday to New York in December, so feel free to post my birthday presents a month early.

The label has also just launched it's most daring collection yet. The Koneko Capsule demonstrates just how much the label are pushing the boundaries at the moment, and it's got to make you excited to see what designs they'll be showcasing next year too.

Bleach London Baby!!

on
Sunday 20 October 2013
So Bleach London has finally landed on the high street. Boots are selling the products nationwide, although the main branch in Edinburgh seem to be oblivious to the fact that people in the city might want them. Luckily, i discovered you can order from the Boots website and they'll deliver them to your nearest store within a couple of days.

Being a natural brunette meant i had to buy some bleach to lighten my hair before i could dye it. I left the bleach on for the recommended 30-45 minutes, but i think i probably could have done with leaving it on a bit longer.

Once i washed the bleach out of my hair, i had to shampoo and towel dry it before it was time to try the rose coloured dye. It's probably the easiest type of dye to apply because it was quite thick, and therefore i didn't seem to get it all over me as much as other dyes I've used. And it washed off my hands really well without staining them. And 15 minutes later (plus extra time for washing the dye off) my hair looks like this....

It's pretty subtle, which is how i was hoping it would turn out. Now i'm just looking forward to bleaching and dye a bit more of it, rather than it just being the tips. And once the rose dye is finished, i'll be trying out the rest of the range too.

Happy Birthday Coral Fang!

on
Monday 14 October 2013
Coral Fang turned 10 today. If I’m honest, I hadn't even realised until I saw Brody Dalle post this on twitter...

I remember wanting to be just like Brody when I was growing up. I remember I REALLY wanted to be her circa City of Angels when she looked like this…

I used to go to gigs with a girl I knew from Glasgow who had her hair all spiked up just like Brody. I would never have been confident enough to do that to mine, so instead I go my lip pierced. I figured that was the next best thing, even if it hurt like hell. I was also going through a Tom Delonge phase so I’m sure that had something to do with it too.
These days it seems like there’s a lot more women to look up to in music whether it be Hayley Williams, Florence Welch, the girls from Eisley or Mariel Loveland from Candy Hearts. Even mainstream pop music has more diverse people to look up to with the likes of Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Taylor Swift pushing the boundaries of the music they make, but also what clothes they are wearing. I mean, I’ll never agree with the meat dress Lady Gaga wore but it’s certainly different from the plain jane looking pop stars that were around when I was younger.
So tonight is very much a Brody Dalle appreciation night with Coral Fang playing on repeat VERY LOUDLY.
The rest of today was pretty much you’re average Monday…

I decided to brave the cold weather in this River Island polka dot dress I picked up in the sales for a tenner, and team it up with my second hand Dr Martens I bought on Ebay for £50 a few weeks ago.

I painted my nails with glitter and unicorn decals from DIY Nails. Seriously, if you’ve never checked out DIY Nails before then do it NOW. They are pretty damn amazing and so easy to use.
And after work i went out to Behind The Wall for dinner with Kirsty and had this...

I Heart Ghost World

on
Saturday 12 October 2013

It's hard to believe it's been over a decade since Ghost World was released. I probably didn't see the film until i was about 18 or 19, but since then I've watched it more times than i can count. If you've seen the film, then you'll know that not a lot actually happens in it. But i have a soft spot for films that don't have a lot happening in them, i'm pretty sure films that fall into that category make up about half of my DVD collection.

Ghost World is the story of best friends Enid and Rebecca, and it follows them during the summer after they graduate from high school as they grow up, drift apart and really just figure out life.

Lately, I've found myself completely obsessed with Enid's sense of style. It's probably got a lot to do with the fact i recently bought myself a pair of black Dr Martens and replaced my old glasses with a pair of Ray Bans. But i do find myself wearing leather jackets, skinny jeans and graphic t-shirts quite a lot of the time.

So i decided to find out where i could get the Enid's infamous raptor t-shirt, and ended up finding all these amazing goodies on Etsy....
